Description

In a cramped Sunday‑school cellar, a daring eleven‑year‑old named Cleg Kelly shatters expectations with a brazen denial that lands him squarely in the role of outcast. His restless energy—pin‑pricking desks, clever wire tricks, and an uncanny ability to tumble through lessons—marks the first spark of a restless spirit that refuses to be tamed by the stern Mr. Lugton and the rigid rituals of Hunker Court. As the school’s doors close behind him, Cleg’s mischief quickly morphs into something larger, hinting at a series of escapades that will carry him far beyond the classroom walls.

From the ruins of his first rebellion, Cleg slips into a world where petty theft, bold confrontations with city brigands, and unexpected alliances become his new curriculum. Each daring episode reveals a boy both reckless and resourceful, navigating a rough urban landscape that tests his wits, loyalty, and emerging sense of justice—all while the reader watches a mischievous youth inch toward a destiny far more extraordinary than anyone could have imagined.
