Description

Monsieur Raoul glides through a sun‑kissed countryside, his carriage turning the routine inspection of estates into a quiet ceremony. The land unfolds in orderly vineyards, apple orchards, and a river that shimmers between poplar‑lined banks, while villagers greet his passage with smiles and reverence. The scene feels both idyllic and purposeful, hinting at a man whose presence carries weight beyond mere propriety.

When Raoul orders the driver to veer down a narrow, overgrown path, the carriage’s slow progress becomes a test of obedience. He slips away from the vehicle, disappearing into the thicket beside the river, leaving his reluctant chauffeur, Jean, to grapple with the sudden uncertainty. As the carriage lurches forward, a young woman from the neighboring château—Claire de Beaudrillart—appears on the road, her poised demeanor contrasting sharply with the unfolding chaos. Their unexpected meeting promises a ripple through the tranquil world that has just begun to stir.
