Description

On a cold early‑spring night in London, the polished corridors of a Pall Mall club hum with the clink of champagne and the rustle of silk. Mortimer Shelton, Lord Standon and Frank Parselle gather at a secluded table, their conversation a mix of sarcasm, old university anecdotes, and thinly‑veiled rivalry. Their patience is tested as they await the arrival of the notoriously tardy Adrien Leroy, whose reputation for loyalty and extravagance precedes him.

When a hurried note finally arrives, it hints at a mysterious benefactor named Jasper Vermont, whose influence over Leroy is both puzzling and potentially dangerous. The men speculate about wealth, secret debts, and the strange pull that keeps Leroy bound to his enigmatic friend. Listeners are drawn into a world of aristocratic intrigue, where witty repartee masks deeper motives, and the evening’s dinner may be just the prelude to a larger, unseen game.
