Description

Midnight cloaks the Thames in a choking mist, turning Waterloo Bridge into a stage for shadows and desperate thoughts. An elderly gentleman, usually wrapped in genteel certainty, wanders the fog‑laden arches, his steps echoing the uneasy pulse of a city suffocated by darkness. The scene sets a tense, almost suffocating atmosphere that hints at hidden motives and unseen dangers lurking beneath the surface of respectable society.

Into this gloom emerges Mrs. Darrow, a woman of sharp wit and concealed strength, whose path soon intertwines with the mysterious visitor. As the night deepens, their encounters reveal strange arrangements and whispered secrets that threaten to upend their lives. The novel weaves a tightly knotted mystery, inviting listeners to navigate the foggy streets and the tangled hearts within.
