VIGJÁTÉK HÁROM FELVONÁSBAN
In this lively three‑act comedy the scene opens in the intimate dining room of a fashionable Budapest hotel. As the curtain lifts, two army lieutenants—Zágon and Mikhál—settle into a quiet corner, sipping wine while trading witty barbs about their social status, attire and the fleeting pleasures of the city. Around them the restaurant’s staff, from the meticulous head waiter to the flamboyant groom, shuffle trays, attend to orders and sprinkle the dialogue with playful misunderstandings about brandy, champagne and the subtle art of ordering.
The play’s humor springs from the contrast between the officers’ pretentious chatter and the grounded, often cheeky remarks of the serving crew, creating a bustling tableau of early‑twentieth‑century Budapest nightlife. Listeners are drawn into a snapshot of a single evening between eight and ten, where each request for a drink or a glass of water becomes a chance for satire, cultural observation and the gentle ribbing of class conventions. The atmosphere feels both intimate and theatrical, inviting the audience to linger over the clink of glasses and the rapid-fire repartee.
