During a time of famine, a family from Bethlehem seeks refuge in Moab. After the patriarch dies and both sons perish, the widowed mother is left with her two daughters‑in‑law. When she decides to return home, she urges them to stay, but one daughter pledges, “Where you go I will go,” committing herself to Naomi’s people and God.
The journey brings them back to Bethlehem, where Naomi is greeted with sorrow and renames herself Mara, feeling the weight of her losses. Ruth, determined to support her mother‑in‑law, begins to glean in the barley fields, catching the eye of Boaz, a respected relative of Naomi’s late husband. He orders his workers to protect her and offers generous care, hinting at a future that may change both their lives.

Some of literature’s most enduring voices come to us without a confirmed name. “Anonymous” stands for storytellers whose identities were never recorded, were deliberately concealed, or were lost over time.
