The Dead Alive

A diligent young barrister in London is forced to abandon his demanding legal career after a sudden collapse leaves him medically declared “overworked.” He heeds his doctor’s advice to seek rest abroad, boarding a steamship for New York and eventually traveling inland to a quiet farm in the American countryside, where a distant relative has offered hospitality.

Upon arriving at the remote Meadowcroft estate, he encounters the charismatic son, Ambrose, and is drawn into the rhythms of rural life. Yet beneath the farm’s placid surface, subtle oddities begin to surface, hinting that the tranquil setting may conceal far more unsettling mysteries than a simple change of scenery.
