The story opens in a grand Parisian establishment that has been the pride of the Rabier family for four generations. The Maison on Rue des Trois Raisins, with its polished décor, fine drinks and a piano that summons dancers, has long been a symbol of disciplined hospitality. When the last male heir, Adolphe, inherits the business, he continues the exacting standards that have kept troublemakers at bay, stepping in only when youthful conscripts threaten the order.

Into this world steps Mireille, a diligent and devoted woman who has risen from the ranks to become the new director.
