In a tiny mountain village the arrival of a traveling puppeteer sets the whole community buzzing. The enigmatic figure, nicknamed “Orso peloso” for his shaggy gray hair and smoky pipe, turns his modest workshop into a hub of whispered excitement. Ten‑year‑old Cardello, once idle and eager, becomes the boy’s indispensable assistant, fetching nails, paper, oil and the countless odd supplies the puppeteer needs to build his marionettes.
Through daily tasks and secret peeks behind the workshop door, Cardello learns the craft of puppetry and the lively cast of characters that will soon take the village square by storm. His pride grows as he watches the wooden figures come to life, and the townsfolk’s curiosity turns into admiration, while a few jealous eyes linger. The story captures the wonder of childhood imagination, the pull of mentorship, and the magic that can emerge from a simple, makeshift stage.
