A young professor of archaeology, driven by rumors of ancient Native American settlements, pushes his battered car into the scorching canyons of Arizona. When his radiator bursts and the vehicle stalls, he is forced to abandon the heat‑filled wreck and scramble for water in the relentless desert sun. In that moment he encounters a weary sheriff and his shackled prisoner, both equally parched and wary, whose desperate need for a drink sparks an uneasy truce.
The professor’s scholarly curiosity soon collides with the sheriff’s grim pursuit, as each man eyes the other’s motives through the haze of dust and sweat. While the professor hopes the caves hold priceless relics, the sheriff is determined to recapture a fugitive who has eluded him for years. Their uneasy alliance sets the stage for a tense trek deeper into the Sonora wilderness, where the promise of hidden treasure is matched only by the danger that lurks beneath the desert’s silent rocks.
