A pair of down‑on‑their‑luck entrepreneurs run a fledgling hunting lodge on the wild, untamed plains of Venus. Gil and Harry spend their days juggling unpaid bills, outdated rifles, and the stubborn belief that “Venus on the Half‑Shell” will someday draw eager Earth‑bound big‑game hunters. Their cramped cabin doubles as office, bedroom, and storefront, and every sunrise brings the same desperate hope: a single paying customer could change everything.

When the grizzled former hunter Talbot Kramer arrives, he brings news of a mysterious creature called the Wompan and a battered swamp‑buggy that could be their only escape—or their only ticket to profit. The men must decide whether to cling to old‑world hunting traditions or adapt to the alien wilderness that surrounds them, all while the swamp‑filled landscape threatens to swallow their dreams whole.
