Description

On a parched Martian settlement where ancient canals have run dry, a trio of Earth “Conquerors” lodge in the crumbling ruins of Kinkaaka, sipping thin broth while the planet’s native inhabitants linger in the shadows of their own history. Jack Burke, the brash leader, and his companions Barnes and the thoughtful Randolph navigate a world of rust‑red dunes, abandoned market arenas, and sacred temples that whisper of a vanished civilization.

Tensions rise as the outsiders impose their own rules—speaking the Martian tongue, cataloguing relics, and treating the locals as curiosities—while the native Martians watch, half‑humored, half‑resentful. Randolph, the youngest, feels an uneasy pull toward the fragile art and culture around him, questioning the morality of their mission. As the fragile peace teeters, the colonists must decide whether they are explorers, conquerors, or something in between, all before the deeper mysteries of the ancient waterway are uncovered.
