Linda Carlton's Perilous Summer

Linda Carlton is a trailblazing young aviator who has already made history as the first American girl to fly solo from New York to Paris. Now, spending a summer at her aunt’s lakeside bungalow, she longs to take to the skies again, this time with her spirited friend Dot Crowley. Clad in a bright flying suit, Linda’s enthusiasm is infectious, even as her cautious aunt worries about the risks of another daring sortie.

Together they hop into Linda’s trusty autogiro, the “Ladybug,” and glide over the shimmering surface of Lake Michigan, laughing and singing as the wind whips past their helmets. The journey carries them across the water and into the rolling fields of Wisconsin, where they land for a breezy picnic before heading home. Yet the carefree mood shifts when, on the return flight, they spot a speeding car careening toward a lone pedestrian, a sudden danger that forces Linda to confront the thin line between thrill and peril.
