When the world teeters on becoming a vassal to the conquering Sirians, Earth's last hope rests on Standish, a defense engineer who led a daring raid on the alien base. He awakens alone amid the twisted wreckage of a Sirian prison ship, the hull humming with strange vibrations and smoke filling the corridors. As he moves through shattered decks, he finds rows of empty cages where his fellow soldiers once hung and a gutted bridge where the alien crew perished. The silence forces him to confront that he may be only survivor.
Outside the wreck, the war rages unchecked—Mars and Venus have fallen and continents are succumbing to the relentless Sirians. Standish, trained in engineering and covert tactics, knows Earth's fate hinges on any advantage he can find. With limited supplies and a damaged ship, he must decide whether to use the alien vessel as a weapon, a refuge, or a desperate way to send a warning home. The story balances tense survival with larger stakes of an interplanetary conflict, inviting listeners to wonder how one man's ingenuity might shift the balance.
