La pata de la raposa (Novela)

In the late September of 1905, the sleepy town of Pilares drapes itself in the amber light of early autumn. Its narrow streets and aging houses nestle beneath the looming Mount Otero, while the occasional toll of ancient bells pierces the lingering summer heat. Most residents have fled to seaside resorts, leaving the façades quiet and tinged with melancholy.

Against this backdrop, two restless youths, Teresuca and Manolo, turn the empty balconies of neighboring houses into a private stage. Their playful teasing takes a strange turn when Teresuca produces a curious carpet‑shaker that suddenly behaves like a wand, rattling a glass window and revealing a lone farmhand polishing his boots. Their clumsy gestures and nervous laughter hint at deeper currents beneath their light‑hearted games, suggesting that the quiet town may conceal hidden stories.
