The Boy Aeronauts' Club; or, Flying for Fun

A teenage boy named Bob Balfour finds himself sent south for a change of air after his health suddenly falters. In the bustling port city of Pensacola, he wanders beyond the modern cafés into a nostalgic Creole coffee house, where an old sea‑dog offers a glimpse of the maritime world that once thrived there. Fascinated by the salty stories and the lively atmosphere, Bob’s curiosity awakens, and he begins to dream of adventures beyond the shore.

Soon he discovers a hidden group of young enthusiasts who call themselves the Boy Aeronauts’ Club, a band of daring kids eager to master the new marvel of flight. Their meetings are filled with sketches, daring plans, and the promise of soaring over the Gulf’s sparkling waters. As Bob joins their ranks, he learns that the sky may hold the very cure his doctor prescribed—sunlight, fresh breezes, and the thrill of taking off for pure fun.
