On the arid world of Zur, the Masur clan has built its fortune on the endless supply of clay, a material that shapes their art, architecture, and trade. The sudden arrival of a gleaming Earth starship in the tiled streets of Lor sparks awe at alien technology and fear that its precious metal hull could upset the fragile economy. As the elders gather around their ancient table, they argue whether to seize the ship’s metal for profit or protect the timeless clay that defines their identity.
Zotul, the youngest brother, watches the heated discussion with a mix of curiosity and resentment, hoping to escape the role of family scapegoat. He sees a chance to turn the strangers’ advanced engineering into a lever for his own designs, even as his brothers cling to tradition and fear change. When the Earth delegation promises cooperation and “blessings from the skies,” the balance between old customs and a possible new future begins to shift, hinting at both opportunity and conflict for the Masur house.
