In the frozen wilderness of the Canadian north, a seasoned corporal of the Mounted Police follows a faint sled trail that promises to lead to a notorious outlaw known as Koona Dick. The crisp pine air, the disciplined bark of his sled dogs, and the crunch of snow underfoot set the scene for a tense pursuit that suddenly veers into danger when the crack of rifles shatters the silence and a terrified woman’s scream pierces the trees. With his senses on high alert, the officer must decide whether to press on toward an unseen homestead or retreat into the safety of the main road.

The mystery deepens as a lone figure—a woman moving swiftly through the dimming forest—appears on a side trail, forcing the corporal to pause and confront the unknown.
