The Adventures of A Brownie

In a quiet Devonshire home, a tiny, brown‑clad household spirit makes his home in the darkest corner of the coal‑cellar. Known to the children as Mr. Nobody, the brownie is a shy, ancient creature who appears only after dark, sharing quiet games and gentle jokes with the youngsters while remaining invisible to adults. For generations the family has left a bowl of milk by the cellar door, a modest offering that the brownie never seems to refuse.

The old cook tended the ritual faithfully, but when a new, careless cook takes over, the nightly bowl is often forgotten. One night the brownie wakes to find his supper missing, his stomach growling and his patience wearing thin. Determined to find food, he sets out beyond his hidden nook, beginning a series of playful escapades that will bring him into the lives of the household children in unexpected ways.
