Hidden Hand

Set against the bleak, wind‑swept peaks of Virginia’s Devil’s Hoof, the story opens in the imposing stone mansion of Hurricane Hall. The estate, isolated by rugged cliffs and a roaring mountain stream, feels as much a character as its solitary owner, Major Ira Warfield—a hard‑handed veteran known to the locals as “Old Hurricane.” His life of hunting, drinking, and stern authority is interrupted one storm‑laden All Hallow’s Eve when a mysterious knocking echoes through the darkened halls.
