In a bustling Scottish market town, the roguish Tam revels with his loyal friend Souter Johnny, drinking deep and swapping tall tales as night falls. Ignoring his wife's warning that his habit will lead him to doom, he mounts his trusty mare, Meg, and pushes through the stormy night toward home. The dark, wind‑swept hills of Ayr set the stage for a ride that quickly turns uncanny.
As Tam rides past the ancient ruins of Alloway Kirk, he stumbles upon a wild, moonlit revel of witches and warlocks in the midst of a frenzied dance. The eerie music and flickering lights draw him in, yet the very sight of the supernatural gathering threatens to trap him forever. With the danger closing in, Tam must decide whether to flee or face the otherworldly peril that now stalks the night.

A farmer’s son who became Scotland’s best-loved poet, his writing gave ordinary speech, feeling, and humor an unforgettable voice. His songs and poems, including work that helped carry “Auld Lang Syne” around the world, still feel warm, sharp, and deeply human.
