In the quiet hills surrounding Bethlehem, a modest town perched on a ridge, a young shepherd named David tends his father's flocks. Though the smallest of Jesse’s seven sons, he is renowned for his keen eye, gentle care of each sheep, and fearless defense against predators. His daily routine weaves through olive groves and winding paths, a world of simple duties that hide a steady, quiet courage.
One day the town buzzes with the arrival of the frail prophet Samuel, who climbs the steep road bearing a horn of oil and a solemn purpose. He has come to perform a sacrifice and, unknown to the townspeople, to anoint a new king for the people of Israel. As Samuel inspects each of Jesse’s older sons, none bear the sign the prophet seeks, until at last the messenger returns with the youngest—David. The unexpected summons of the shepherd boy hints at a destiny far beyond the pastures he knows.
