Dick and His Cat

A young orphan named Dick wanders the streets, hungry and exhausted, until a kindly household notices his plight. A man and his daughter offer him a simple meal and a place to rest, inviting him to stay while he looks for his lost mother. Though the family is modest and life is hard, the offer of shelter gives Dick a chance to regain his strength and find a new routine.

Soon after arriving, Dick rescues a gray cat being tormented by other children, and the animal quickly becomes his sole companion.
