When an old sow can no longer feed her three little piglets, she sends them out into the world to make their own way. Each pig meets a different helper—a man with straw, another with furze, and a third with bricks—and uses the material to build a home. The first two structures are light and quick, but a hungry wolf soon arrives, demanding entry and threatening to blow them down.
The wolf's huffing and puffing easily destroys the straw and furze houses, leaving the first two pigs to meet a grim fate. Undeterred, the wolf turns his attention to the sturdy brick house, only to find his breath powerless against its walls. Frustrated, he devises a series of cunning ploys—promising turnips, apples, even a trip to a fair—to lure the clever third pig out of safety, setting the stage for a tense game of wits.
