Rosa's Quest

In a cramped Chicago tenement of the early 1900s, young Rosa balances school, chores, and the constant worry that her ailing mother will not survive another night. Her world is dominated by the harsh voice of Mrs. Gray, the stern aunt who has taken Rosa in after the death of her father. Between the clatter of streetcars and the scent of cheap stew, Rosa clings to brief moments of tenderness with her grandfather, who offers her the only steady affection in the crowded hallway.

When Mrs. Gray orders Rosa to deliver a mysterious package to a lady on Lake Avenue, the girl is thrust into a hurried race against time.
