In the summer of 1358 a Norwegian merchant ship slips into the quiet fjord of Brattahlid, Greenland, after weeks of battling drifting icebergs. Its master, Snorri Gamlason, is a rough seaman who carries a mysterious manuscript he cannot read. When a sudden fog lifts, the crew spots another vessel half a mile away, its sails ragged and frozen, seemingly trapped in the ice. Driven by curiosity, Snorri steers toward the ghostly ship.
Drawing alongside, they find the deck a frozen tableau: a lone arm protrudes from a mound of snow, and inside the cabins lie two perfectly preserved bodies—a young man and a delicate maiden—caught in an eternal chill. The crew’s attempts to board only deepen the mystery, as the ice seems to hold the ship in a timeless grip. Listeners are invited to share Snorri’s awe and dread, pondering what fate befell those lost souls and what secrets the ice‑bound wreck might still keep.
