Description

In a sunny corner of Mr. McGregor’s garden, the bustling Flopsy Bunnies—Benjamin and his many sprightly offspring— scramble for food wherever they can find it. When fresh lettuces burst into bloom on the nearby rubbish heap, the little rabbits gorge themselves, only to be lulled into a drowsy nap by the vegetable’s soporific effect. Their mother, Flopsy, watches over them while Benjamin, ever watchful, shields himself with a paper bag against the buzzing flies.

The peaceful slumber is shattered when Mr. McGregor, returning from his mowing, drops a sackful of cut grass onto the sleeping bunnies. The startled rabbits stir but remain half‑asleep, and the farmer, delighted by his “catch,” ties the sack and carries it away. As the sack disappears into the house, Benjamin, Flopsy, and a clever mouse named Thomasina Tittlemouse must quickly devise a way to free the tiny family before the next surprise arrives.

Beloved for creating Peter Rabbit and a whole cast of memorable animals, she paired gentle humor with beautifully observed illustrations. Her stories still feel fresh because they come from a real love of nature, country life, and the mischievous side of childhood.
