Four energetic teens gather at the town shooting gallery, each eager to prove his marksmanship. Charley, Sheppard, Will, and their friends trade stories, boast about bull‑seyes, and quickly crown a leader for their fledgling gun club. With a modest allowance and a shared love of rifles and rods, they plan a fall hunting trip far from home. Their excitement builds as they scout a remote lakeside site for a makeshift camp.
Soon after setting up camp, the boys encounter a hostile figure who forces them to abandon their chosen spot, pushing them deeper into the wilderness. Undeterred, they turn the setback into an adventure, tracking both small and larger game while learning the ropes of true outdoor life. Along the way they stumble upon two fugitives evading the law, and their quick thinking helps bring the men to justice. The story captures the camaraderie, humor, and growing responsibility of youth discovering the challenges of hunting in a changing world.
