Arne and the Christmas star: A story of Norway

In a snug Norwegian fishing village, the holidays bring a mix of hope and nervous anticipation. The freighter Stjerne, the community’s beloved “Christmas ship,” battles a fierce winter storm as it carries gifts, supplies, and the crew’s good wishes back to the harbor. Among those aboard is Gustav, Arne’s older brother, whose return promises excitement for the whole family.

Arne, a restless boy with bright eyes and a quick tongue, watches the preparations with a mixture of longing and determination. He dreams of joining the mountain saeter expedition and worries about being stuck at home helping with the tedious work of baling lutfisk. Yet when the storm threatens the Stjerne’s safe arrival, Arke’s curiosity and courage push him to find a way to aid the crew.
