NASA is the United States government agency responsible for civilian space exploration and aeronautics research. According to its official overview, it works across a network of centers and facilities in partnership with commercial companies and international collaborators, studying Earth, the Sun, the solar system, and the wider universe while developing new technologies for flight and space.
The agency was established in 1958, growing out of the earlier National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. Over the decades, NASA has become closely associated with some of the most recognizable achievements in science and engineering, including human spaceflight, lunar exploration, robotic missions, space telescopes, and research carried out in orbit.
Rather than being an individual author, NASA is an institutional creator whose books and publications often reflect the work of scientists, engineers, historians, astronauts, and public writers. That gives its audiobooks and texts a broad, mission-driven voice: curious, practical, and focused on discovery.
