About the author

Born Gertrude Minnie Robins on July 11, 1861, she was an English writer who published many of her books under her married name, Mrs. Baillie Reynolds. She wrote more than fifty novels and story collections, building a reputation for lively popular fiction with crime, mystery, and gothic elements.

Her work appeared during a period when magazine fiction and circulating-library novels reached a wide audience, and her stories often focused on intrigue, secrets, and dramatic personal entanglements. Several of her books remain of interest to readers of vintage suspense and overlooked women writers.

She died on November 22, 1939. Although she is less widely known today than some of her contemporaries, her fiction has continued to circulate through library catalogs, reprints, and public-domain editions.
