Description

Ralph, a restless young knight from the High House, leaves the safety of his home after a chance encounter with an old tome that mentions a fabled Well at the World's End. His wanderings take him through bustling market towns, over rolling downs, and into the foreboding Wood Perilous, where he rescues a maiden from Bourton Abbas and survives a series of sudden skirmishes. Along the way he gathers fragments of the ancient story, each clue urging him farther from familiar roads and deeper into untamed wilderness.

In the shadowy forest he meets a mysterious lady who recounts her own hardships and the centuries‑old yearning for the hidden spring, sparking a bond that steadies his resolve. Together with a handful of loyal companions they press onward, confronting strange creatures and puzzling riddles that guard the path to the well. The tale unfolds as a blend of chivalric duty, budding love, and the lure of a promise that the world’s end might hold a well of everlasting hope.

William Morris

1834–1896

A central figure in the Arts and Crafts movement, this Victorian writer and designer brought the same love of beauty and workmanship to poems, stories, textiles, and books. His imagination helped shape modern fantasy, while his ideas about art and labor still feel strikingly modern.
