Francis Kermode

b. 1874

A Liverpool-born naturalist who made his career in British Columbia, he is best remembered for his work at the provincial museum and for inspiring the name of the rare white Kermode bear. His writing reflects a close, practical knowledge of the birds and wildlife of Canada’s west coast.
