A young heir named David Innes inherits his father's mining empire and, driven by both duty and curiosity, pours his energy into a daring experiment. He finances an enormous, steel‑cylinder drill designed by the eccentric inventor Perry, hoping the machine will pierce the solid earth and reveal untold riches. With the device completed and the desert winds still whispering, Innes and his small crew ignite the engine and begin their unprecedented journey toward the planet’s core.
The drill crashes through rock and heat, thrusting the explorers into a hidden world of perpetual fire and strange, exotic landscapes. Here they encounter hulking, reptilian peoples, luminous flora, and a captivating woman named Dian who offers both wonder and warning. As the adventurers grapple with an alien environment and its hostile inhabitants, they must decide whether to press onward or turn back, knowing that every step could rewrite humanity’s understanding of the Earth itself.
