FAQ

How pricing works?

  • For your uploaded files and links, we have pay-as-you-go pricing. This means you pay only for the audio you listen to and do not need to think about a subscription.
  • For books from Listenly's Library, you just purchase the full audiobook once.
  • You can use only one of these pricing models or both simultaniosly, they do not affect each other.

Which languages are supported?

  • Afrikaans, Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Kazakh, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Marathi, Maori, Nepali, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Welsh.
  • The language of your book/document will be detected automatically during the upload.
  • Our current AI Text-to-Speech model works best with English and other Latin languages (French, German, etc.) and might have an accent with others.

Does Listenly work on mobile?

  • Yes, you can open the app in your mobile browser and add it to your home screen to use it as a separate app.
  • We are planning to publish it as a native app in the app stores soon.

Can I listen to emails?

  • Yes, every Listenly user can forward emails to their personal Listenly inbox, where they are parsed and added to their library.

Isn't making AI audio versions of books illegal?

  • No, it's not. Your uploaded books and documents are accessible to you only. Think of it as Google Drive or Dropbox, where you can store books that you bought or downloaded. Google and Dropbox will not ban you for doing so.
  • For the Public Library, we select public domain content only. If you do not want your content to be published in our public library, just tell us, and we will remove it.

How many voices are available?

  • There are 6 voices — 3 male ones and 3 female ones. One of the male voices has a British accent.
  • AI is developing rapidly, and new models are appearing every couple of months. We keep track of it and will connect more models if there is something with the same quality or better than the current ones. We aim to provide the best listening experience, so we are very selective in that regard.
